Rosebank House

Brief

Following completion of an extensive Structural Survey the Client purchased the property and engaged us to make alterations and extensions to this 200year old former elegant home with outbuildings and Coach House. The high ceiling two storey building had two historic rear extensions that although “quaint” were poorly built and cold and damp. The brief was to demolish these rear outshots and after creating a basement area then build a two storey rear extension, with a side garden Orangery.

Insight

  • Much of the charactor and charm was retained in the existing core of the home, whilst updating windows, doors and all services.
  • The rear extension included a large open plan Kitchen that flowed into a mainly glazed Orangery on the side of the house. The clients Landcape advisor then designed out a tranquil setting for the clients.
  • The materials were sourced to match the existing home in detail....although the rear extension was in itself large its bulk was inset slightly from the towering parent dwelling and although integrated into the extended home sat subserviently in the landscaped setting.
